  • Asked by plankwalker Sep 22, at AM about the FIAT Pop. Question type: Maintenance & Repair. Does my Fiat have a spare tire.

I have the optional 17" wheels on my '13 Abarth and want to get at least one spare wheel/tire for it. For short distances (like if something goes.

I have a new Abarth and commute miles each day. I just purchased the 14" spare rim part number AB - ~$52 from Fiat Parts.

So I got a flat and got ready to change the tire only to find no tire no jack no mechanism! For warranty information about this product, please click here. I had my original set of 4 17's listed for sale after I sold my Abarth listed since Aug on the Facebook classifieds Abarth page and no hits. Originally Posted by Josephp

At some point in they changed the style of the mounting. You need to know which one fits before ordering ask me how I know! The pre and early Spare Tire kit is I have included a picture of the winding mechanism. It comes with the tire, jack, etc. I am also attaching an under-car photo from my Fiat C. The bolt pattern is not compatible with the older Spare Tire Kit.

Fiat Forum Advertisements. Thanks for the update - keep us posted! I am told it does not fit the Abarth. Is there a kit for Abarth? The opinions expressed on this site are those of the author and may not be the same as others, that's why it's called an opinion - get over it. Installation of Well the new spare tire kit arrived. The parts guy checked his computer to verify it was the right one, but the information is ambiguous as to actually when Fiat made the cut-over to the new style. My C was built in March , apparently just as the new style came out.

The new kit seems very nice. As before you get the spare tire, jack and wrench not pictured. The kit components themselves are the same two brackets as before, but the winding mechanism is much simpler and there is an additional heat shield for the muffler with 4 nuts.

The installation instructions are completely inadequate, so I will give you a blow-by-blow account of my installation. First, the required tools: In the photo the four red numbers are the bolt holes for the winder mechanism. Note the small square hole next to 3, this corresponds to a notch in the shape of the winder, and indicates where the black cable with the lug must attach.

I am guessing that the black cable is a safety feature, so if your main winding cable frays and breaks the spare tire will just drag along behind you rather than falling onto the highway and causing a following car to have a nasty accident. It has a metal "hog ring" attaching it to the main winding cable. The winding cable slides loosely through the ring.

After installing the winder, you can go ahead and install the right-side tire bracket, but wait on the left. You will need all the access you can get to install the first two of four nuts holding on the heat shield. It takes some jiggling, but the heat shield is pretty soft so you will be able to bend, twist and maneuver it into place on the two nearest studs.

Use your 11mm nut driver to tighten them, but not too much, This style of nut strips very easily. You may now install the remaining tire bracket and crawl out from under the car! To install the remaining two nuts on the heat shield you must jack up the car and remove the left rear wheel. You will now be able to reach the remaining two studs.
