    Heck, worst S-Class, period. The W is the greatest masterpiece of the automobile industry. The W is not the same line of car. The W is great!

    Remember, there is not such a thing about a cheap Benz. That is the difference my friend. But say you can find a good model, S, for really cheap If you can afford it and want to learn how to fix a benz, go ahead. With that being said, the previous generation, the W, is world, world ahead. There is no reason to go with a W when the W is cheaper, more reliable, more everything.

    I bought my first Mercedes, a W S 4Matic last year. When I met with the previous owner and test drove the car, he provided all of his service records. I noticed that during his three-year ownership, he had poured a lot of money into maintenance and repair. This was a red flag, but I reasoned that at K miles, he had taken care of most of the major issues that would arise anytime soon. I'm fairly proficient in auto repairs, so I was able to handle the oil change, tune-up, valve cover gasket service, brakes, upper radiator hose, wiper motor, and sunroof repair myself.

    I had to turn to a local indie shop to diagnose and repair a shudder that I was certain was a bad transmission, but turned out to be a bad carrier bearing and ujoint. The car drives like a dream, and gives me on road confidence that I have never felt. I love it, but I'm thankful that I know how to handle most of the maintenance myself. Cost for parts to the DIYer isn't bad, and this is the easiest vehicle to service that I have ever experienced. If I had to do it all over again knowing what I know now, I would still buy the car.
