My daughter is away at college and called me saying the yellow oil light keeps coming on and then going off. I've looked at some of the sites.

Assuming it's a worst-case scenario and it's not possible to top off the oil, how many miles can the E90 and F10 gasoline models be driven.

And the other one is red meaning oil pressure issue. What I normally see with this is if you have a yellow light that comes on then goes out its an issue with your oil level sensor and needs to be replaced.

If its red then you need pressure sensor or engine. LarchmereImports answered 6 years ago. Robert is correct the yellow low oil level warning indication and the red oil pressure light are in the same location but recieve there warning signals from different areas.

The low level warning sensor is a very common failure on that vehicle. One of the reasons is the ridiculously long oil change interval recommendation. If it is the yellow warning and the oil level is full, replace the sensor in the bottom of the oil pan and change the oil. If you intend to keep the car change the oil every 6 months or 6k miles. It will greatly reduce your cost of ownership in the long run. Jaz answered 3 years ago.

I replace my engine oil and filter every 3k. I had the same problem with the sensor at about k miles. Changing the sensor worked. BuffyRod answered 2 years ago.
