Hi all i have not been on for quiet a while as ive been ill but on the mend i'm after a little help as usual does anyone know how to reset the maintenance light to the correct settings and the right schedule settings i just had a oil and filter change at my local garage and the owner tried to reset it following instructions from a manual he had but it is not correct being a diesel it should be set to miles and 12 months but he pressed something else and its set to a month and miles any ideas and instructions please sorry if this has been asked before and if it has could you point me to the right page thanks again.

I have reset mine twice. Page of the instruction manual details the procedure - leastways that's the page in the manual that I have. The ignition needs to be off. I had the problem last year or maybe it was the year before and will have to do it again soon.

When I had it serviced by the original garage for the first time the period was correct. They then lost the Mitsubishi dealership and it was the second garage that didn't do it right and the display showed some strange mileage and period. I checked with the first garage and with another Mitsubishi dealer some miles away and both said the second garage had done it incorrectly and didn't know what they were doing.

The same thing happened earlier this year when I had the car serviced again at the second garage, up came an odd mileage and a sixth month period to next service.

But as I knew how to reset the display I didn't bother querying it. However there is something you should bear in mind I think. You need to ensure that no big thing such as a belt change etc is missed by doing your own resets! I'm not too worried myself as I have only done 22k miles in 3 and a half years but to cover myself before I reset my reminder I'm going to go along to a Mitsubishi dealer and ask them to check and confirm that nothing big is due - it doesn't seem to be from the printed service schedules in the booklet but better safe than sorry?

So no one knows o well. This was my original post on this subject - www. What then came up was miles or 5 months. The being the service intervals on the petrol version rather than reaching on the clock. It is frustrating and as I said in my original topic - perhaps we take too much notice of computers?
